Fastback fascination
The '49 Buick Sedanette is more sculpture than a pure drivers car. Compared to its predecessor, it is significantly more elegant and, compared to its successor, not so heavily overloaded with chrome. The golden ratio, so to speak. Buick broke new ground in design with this business coupe: fastback at its finest. If you look at a 1955 Bentley S1 Continental Mulliner, you can clearly see that this Buick was the inspiration for it. Both vehicles are design icons, only the price tag on the Buick has one less zero. Instead, it has an abundance of Art Deco elements, which make it a real eye-catcher.
The Buick is equipped with a 2-speed Dynaflow automatic transmission and has the 8-248 CI straight 8 engine installed. This is also more of a sculpture or jukebox than a power plant. One would almost be inclined to install a 264 or 364 CI Nailhead V8, which would then have sufficient power. Electric conversions can also be found on the internet. But the vehicle on offer here is far too good for that.
This Buick was originally sold by John Scotti in Montreal. In 2012, it came to Switzerland to a collector who scrutineered the car thoroughly and painstakingly restored it to perfect and original condition. It almost goes without saying that it has a Swiss veteran car passport. The original paintwork was sanded and polished by Swissvax HQ and trimmed for concours. This was also the primary purpose of the vehicle. It achieved a podium place at practically every event in which it took part. After the death of the collector, the vehicle remained in the family, but was not used enough. This fantastic Buick is therefore being offered on behalf of a customer due to disuse. Faszination Fastback
Der 49er Buick Sedanette ist mehr Skulptur, denn Gebrauchsgegenstand. Im vergleich zum Vorgängermodell ist er deutlich eleganter und im Vergleich zum Nachfolger nicht so heftig mit Chrom überladen. Der Goldene Schnitt Quasi. Buick ging mit diesem Business Coupe neue Wege beim Design: Fastback vom Feinsten. Wenn man sich einen 1955er Bentley S1 Continental Mulliner anschaut, dann kann man deutlich sehen, dass dieser Buick dafür Pate stand. Beide Fahrzeuge sind Designikonen, nur das das Preisschild hat beim Buick eine Null weniger. Dafür hat er eine Fülle an Art Deco Elementen verbaut, welche ihn zu einem echten Hingucker machen.
Der Buick ist mit einem 2-Gang Dynaflow Automat ausgestattet und hat den 8-248 CI straight 8 Motor implantiert. Dieser ist ebenfalls eher Skulptur oder Musikbox, als ein Kraftwerk. Man wäre fast geneigt einen 264er oder 364er CI Nailhead V8 zu verbauen, welche dann über ausreichend Kraft verfügen. Auch tauchen im Netz Elektroumbauten auf. Aber dafür ist das hier angebotene Fahrzeug viel zu schade.
Ursprünglich stand dieser Buick bei John Scotti in Montreal. 2012 kam er in die Schweiz zu einem Sammler, der das Auto auf Herz und Nieren prüfte und in kleinteiliger Arbeit in einen perfekten und originalen Zustand versetzte. Es versteht sich fast von alleine, dass er einen Veteranen Wagenpass besitzt. Der Originallack wurde vom Swissvax HQ geschliffen und auf Concours getrimmt. Das war denn auch der primäre Zweck des Fahrzeuges. Praktisch an jedem Anlass, wo er teilnahm erreichte er einen Podestplatz. Nach dem Tod des Sammlers, blieb das Fahrzeug im Familienbesitzt, wurde jedoch zu wenig genutzt. Der traumhafte Buick wird daher im Kundenauftrag angeboten, wegen Nichtgebrauchs. Dieses Fahrzeug gehört in eine kundige Sammlerhand, welche viel Sachverstand für Design mitbringt und die notwendige Ausstellungsfläche dazu hat. Gerne liefern wir weitere Details und Bilder.
