Description

To the potential buyer of DJW 56L 850CSi. I have set out below the standard spec of the 850csi in case you are not aware of the car and its history and how it came to be.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xFbe9Y85pc This has to be the best 850csi video and tells you all about the car and its history and gives you an idea about the drive experience to expect.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_8_Series_(E31)

1 of only 1,510 M Power cars built worldwide with only 160 RHD versions and some say there are only around 40 RHD still in existence now hence the ever-increasing value and rareness of a very good quality one like DJW 56L,. Described by Classic Car Heroes as being maintained to ensure a stunning condition throughout after following my instructions to ensure the car is 100% and noted as a high caliber example which are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.

Finished in the silver with a black leather interior.

A short production run from 1992 till 1996. DJW 56L was manufactured in 1994 and I am the 7th owner in 29 years.

1st M Power model to use a V12 engine

Current mileage is 110k

Mot till July 2024.

The car has just had a full service and inspection at Classic Heroes https://www.classicheroes.co.uk/ and AHK check at Munich Legends

Slimline appearance, discretely muscled and the picture book proportions the 850CSi M Coupe. Launched in October 1992 it is the perfect image of elegance on wheels of what is commonly known as a dream car. Equipped with every technical sophistication the 850CSi took over from the prototype M8. It used the same engine as the 850i, which was tuned so significantly that BMW assigned it a new engine code: S70B56. The modifications included a capacity increase to nearly 5.7 litres and power increase to 375 horsepower. The engine can be identified by the “Powered by M” inscription on the central engine cover.

The 850CSi’s modified suspension included stiffer springs and dampers and reduced the car’s ride height. The recirculating ball steering ratio was dropped 15% over the stock E31 setup. The 850CSi also sported wider wheels. The front and rear bumpers were reshaped for improved aerodynamic performance. Four round stainless-steel exhaust tips replaced the square tips found on other models. The 6-speed manual gearbox was the only transmission option. In Europe, all 850CSi’s came with four-wheel steering (AHK – Aktive Hinterachs-Kinematik).

With a worldwide production of 30,621 cars produced the 8 series was a success spanning 10 years. The pinnacle of the series being the ‘CSi’ followed in the traditions of the M Power predecessors, a true ‘wolf’ in sheep’s clothing. With just 1,510 cars built world-wide, equating to only 2% of the grand total, this is a true reflection of the importance of this modern-day Q car.

Finished in gleaming silver metallic coachwork with black hide and black carpets. Benefitting with every conceivable luxury option in a period including dual zone climate control, electric sunshine roof and automatic stability control to just name a few. Upon first impressions you know that this car is special with fabulous original but restored throwing star wheels and quad exhaust pipes. The paintwork is gleaming throughout, if you look closely you will find a couple of small stone chips but this is because the car is used and enjoyed and not simply tucked away and it has a flawless interior to match. Accompanied with the CSI is the complete owner-driver book pack, leather embossed holder, and all factory supplied tools. The service history is there BME up to 76k a then little chequered and not main dealer but the past 8 years it is all well documented as I have made sure the car is without any fault with all works carried out at either Classic Car Heroes or Munich Legends. Having had all the bushes and shocks replaced in my ownership the drive is very smooth and refined and not like a 29-year old car. During my ownership the car has been stored professionally between October and May. The new owner will have nothing to do but to maintain the car going forward in the same way I have by keeping on top the service work.

This a unique opportunity to join the elite band of M Power owners with possible one of the most underrated modern-day classic cars. The new owner of DJW 56L will not have to undertake any works to bring it up to standard and will be able to simply drive it and maintain it. Only non stock items on the car is cat back exhaust from Vortex https://vortexexhaust.com/ HID lamp conversion and a Tracker system.
