Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Sphérotourbillon: Accuracy on so many levels

As complicated a complication as can be, a star of the 2012 Geneva SIHH was on Jaeger-LeCoultre’s stand.

Its main feature, visible at nine o’clock, is an unparalleled multi-axis tourbillon that maintains stability at any angle. By being so-engineered, any harmful effects of the earth’s gravitational pull are minimised.

As part of the ‘Duomètre’ collection, the watch is powered by two separate movements, or a ‘Dual-Wing’ to use the Swiss watchmaker’s expression. Both come under a single regulator’s control.

One is dedicated solely for time indication, the other to power the ‘Sphérotourbillon’. Thanks to this innovative concept, accuracy to the nearest second can be assured.

On its face, sub-dials for a second time-zone and small seconds share space with the power reserve indicator and skeletonised Sphérotourbillon housing.

Two versions of the 42mm, hand-wound masterpiece are available, one in rose gold, the other – limited to just 74 pieces – in platinum. Both come with a hand-sewn crocodile leather strap and 18-carat pink gold (or platinum) pin buckle.
