The ex-Jim Clark, Richard Attwood, 1963 Formula 1 World Championship-winning history 1962 Lotus 25 Formula 1 - $Aus1,100,000 - $Aus1,800,000
The late Hon. John Dawson-Damer’s collection of important Lotus GP and racing single-seaters will be sold by Bonhams & Goodman. One of the highlights is the 1962 Lotus 25, chassis No. R4, Jim Clark’s most successful individual chassis during his entire career with Team Lotus and the one in which he won the 1963 World Championship.
For 1964 the car passed into the hands of an up-and-coming Peter Arundell – also at Team Lotus – and the following year Parnell Racing installed the potent BRM V8 and it was campaigned by a stellar line-up that included Richard Attwood, Bob Bondurant and Innes Ireland. One of just seven 25s built – of which only four survived the 1962-63 seasons – the car carries an estimate of $Aus1,100,000 - $Aus1,800,000 (that’s around £468,085 - £765,957 at today’s highly volatile exchange rates).
The ex-Masten Gregory, Jo Bonnier, Lucien Bianchi 1961 Lotus 18 Formula 1 - $Aus260,000 - $Aus400,000
1957 Lotus-Climax Eleven Le Mans Series I - $Aus50,000 - $Aus70,000

1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante - $Aus400,000 - $Aus500,000
There’s also a two-seater, the 1957 Lotus-Climax Eleven Le Mans Series I ($Aus50,000 - $Aus70,000), and an example of the fiendishly complicated 4wd Grand Prix cars of the late-60s: the Gold Leaf-liveried, ex-Mario Andretti, Jochen Rindt and John Miles 1969 Lotus 63 ($Aus175,000 - $Aus265,000).
The Lotus collection apart, Bonhams & Goodman has some other cars of interest to the Classic Driver reader. There’s a 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Vantage Volante for $Aus400,000 - $Aus500,000 and several Bentleys, mainly of post-War vintage, but also including a 1922 Bentley 3-Litre 'Blue Label', competitively estimated at $Aus160,000 - $Aus200,000.
