The Sunbeam Lotus was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in April 1979, but the road-going version of the rally car was not actually ready for deliveries to the public until after the rebranding, and thus became the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. At first these were produced mostly in black and silver, although later models came in a turquoise and silver (or black) scheme. The car saw not only enthusiastic press reviews, but also much success in the World Rally Championship - in 1980, Henri Toivonen won the 29th Lombard RAC Rally in one, and in 1981 the Sunbeam Lotus brought the entire Manufacturer Championship to Talbot.

The car we offer has been well preserved by its former keeper. It has an HD axle amd has been a hillclimb car, lightly used for the majority of its history. In being coverted to a rally car in 2006, modifications have been made to its lamps, seats, underguard and suspension. As the car stands it is Finnish registered with all taxes paid for. In its very early existence the car competed in thirteen hillclimbs between 1981 and 1984 and an additional one in 1993, so overall this car has been mainly garaged. Since its conversion in 2006, the car has made one appearance, the 2007 Lahti Historic Rally.

In its current condition the car is available with spares which include a spare crank, generator, starter motor, tarmac springs, wheels and gravel tyres

This car is most suitable for historic rallying, which is currently resurging in popularity. Its file comes complete with FIA and Homologation papers, plus much more.
