Description

"The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 models were manufactured from 1971 through to 1989 and were the longest running production models after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL and SLC model names as the 280SL, 280SLC, 300SL, etc. up to the 560SL. The R107 roadster has been described as one of the best-looking Mercedes-Benz cars produced to date. The larger, third generation SL, initially with just a 3.5-litre engine (350 SL) mated to four-speed automatic transmission. The car featured a two-door monocoque bodyshell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system.
This one-off opportunity to own one of the lowest mileage, iconic Mercedes-Benz R107s in the world with a condition that is surmountable with not only this low mileage but with a high level of care and maintenance. First registered on 9th February 1989 and presented in gleaming white coachwork with blue MB Tex trim to the front and the optional bench seat in the rear topped of with a blue contrasting mohair hood.
The car boasts just two previous keepers, the last owner a lady who purchased the car at 1,700 miles eight years previously and had the car stored in a dry heated garage between short dry weather outings. The car has had MoT’s fulfilled on a regular basis in Stoke on Trent and regular health checks, the next which has just been carried out along with a service and MoT until April 2025 with unsurprisingly no advisories. Inside the fuel cap you can still find the original check the oil every 6,000 miles sticker and in the boot an original tool roll in the original plastic pouch.
Originality is indeed the key word here, but for the tyres the car is completely original unrestored and as it would have left the showroom in 1989 including the Blaupunkt cassette radio an option from new. Offered with two keys, handbooks, full size spare wheel and hardtop, also fitted lap belts to the rear this is one of the most collectable time warp examples money can buy. Viewing is highly recommended for a car Historics are proud to bring to market, a car that was featured in Mercedes Enthusiast magazine in 2018 of which a copy is in the history file.
