The Aston Martin DB4 Series II was manufactured from January 1960 until April 1961, with only 349 examples leaving the factory. Building on the original DB4 formula, changes for the Series II included a front-hinged bonnet, enlarged oil sump, heavy duty front brake callipers, and a radiator blind. These DB4s sat slightly higher than predecessor models and were offered with three optional extras; an oil cooler, overdrive, and electric windows.

The example offered here, chassis DB4/469/L, arrived with the Aston Martin California agent, Hornburg Motors, on 16 September 1960. It left the Newport Pagnell factory finished in the fitting colour scheme of California Sage over a Fawn Connolly leather interior. It was equipped with the optional Motorola 606 radio, fully chromed wheels, and a 17-inch steering wheel. Sold on 22 November 1960, this DB4 Series II was purchased by Mr. R. P. Taylor of Newport Beach, California.

Little is known of the car’s earlier history until 1995, when it was owned by Mr. Robert Wood in Corvallis, Oregon. He sold chassis DB4/469/L around 1998 to Southland Sports Car in Sylmar, California. According to the transport documents on file, this DB4 Series II departed the United States in January 1999 and was met by Austrian customs officials in March that year. Sold to a doctor, it was registered again on 29 May 2001. Remaining in their care for six years, they parted ways with the Aston Martin in October 2005 and sold it to the current owner. The DB4 was then exported to Kuwait, where it has remained on static display in dry storage.

Today this DB4 Series II is finished in its factory-correct colour of California Sage and features a black leather interior. At some point in the vehicle's history, a sunroof has been fitted. It will require restoration to achieve a concours standard, and upon inspection it has been found to retain its matching numbers engine. It is accompanied by a copy of its factory build sheets, prior registration papers, and multiple invoices.

A desirable US-market example, chassis DB4/469/L would be an ideal project for an enthusiast or collector seeking one of the earlier iterations of the Aston Martin DB4.
