Frame no. 1125

- Attractive weathered condition
- Robust V-twin
- Less well known and rarer than post-war Harleys

At Harley-Davidson, the "R" series replaced the "D", with a 45 ci (approx. 750 cm3) V-twin, hence the name. This engine would come to be known as the Flat Head, and would be produced by Harley well into the 1970s! It was available in four versions: the basic R, the high-compression RL like the model we're interested in here, the RLD and a version with sidecar, the RS. The R Series gave way in 1936 to the famous W.

Of the RL's past, we know that in 1966 it belonged to a collector in Rovigo, under the registration RO 35113, and in 1985 it was purchased by our collector from a Harley specialist in Milan. It had been restored and, since then, has undergone no particular intervention, so that it presents itself in attractive patinated condition. It's an interesting and unusual representative of America's most famous manufacturer, easy to use once back on the road.
