Chassis No. 9114400416

Engine No. 6342270

Transmission No. 347583

Manufactured in February 1974, this Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was part of the first model year of the newly restyled impact bumper 911s making their way to Porsche's most important market, the United States. Ordered as the top-of-the-line Carrera model, it featured a 2.7-liter air-cooled flat-six engine under its iconic ducktail with performance upgrades over the 911S including larger anti-roll bars (20 mm front, 18 mm rear), Bilstein sport shocks, a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, and 6x15 (front) and 7x15 (rear) forged aluminum Fuchs wheels. MSRP for the Carrera was a hefty $13,575 before optional extras were added. Not shying away from the spec sheet, the original owner of this Carrera ordered it very much as it appears today in Black paint with neatly contrasting Gold Carrera side stripes over a Cinnamon leatherette interior with fog lights, tinted glass all around, and an electric sliding sunroof.

The subject of a restoration reportedly conducted by Air-Cooled Motors of Knoxville, Tennessee to its original specifications, this first-year U.S. 911 Carrera retains both its matching numbers 2.7-liter air-cooled flat-six and its five-speed transmission. It's a highly-collectible example not only for the iconic "ducktail" rear spoiler but for the originality that is most impressive in the interior. Uncut door panels with original style vinyl trimmed door pockets, an original Blaupunkt headunit, and its three-spoke steering wheel. The replacement of its clock for a Heuer-branded unit, a glovebox mounted Heuer Monte-Carlo stopwatch, and under dash air conditioning are all subtle, yet welcome, enhancements made during the restoration. The sale includes its Certificate of Authenticity, a correct for early 1974 toolkit, its correct and exceptionally rare blue painted jack, and trunk mounted spare.
